David Owsianiak
David Owsianiak is a 17
year veteran of the fire service. He began his career with truck and
engine companies in Daytona Beach Florida. He attended many courses in
advanced fire and rescue techniques through the National Fire Academy
and with Florida State Fire College. In 1995 he came to the Chicago land
area performing both firefighting and paramedic duties for Brookfield
Fire Dept, IL. In 1996 he joined the Chicago Fire Department as a
paramedic and quickly rose through the ranks to PIC. His love and
advanced skills in firefighting and rescue brought him to one of the
Chicago Fire Departments elite companies Squad 1 located in the heart of
downtown Chicago. FF Owsianiak has received the Firefighter Medal of
Valor for rescuing a mother and her 7 y/o daughter from a burning
apartment fire. He also provided himself for over 10 days to the
brothers of FDNY during 9/11. He also provided his assistance during
hurricane Katrina’s relief efforts. He has additional unit awards for
rescues and teachings. He has instructed for many institutions such IFSI
, RICO Rapid Intervention Company Operations, RICO Aggressive Primary
Search, RIT Under Fire and at the Chicago Fire Academy
