Lee Finlayson
Lee Finlayson is a
veteran of 17 years in the fire service. Prior to that, Lee spent 10
years in the military, where he served on the Presidential Honor Guard
and with Military Intelligence. Presently serves as a Lieutenant with
the Grand Rapids Fire Dept, Michigan. Lee has also served as Training
Officer for the Grand Rapids Recruit Academy. Presently he serves as one
of the Task Force Leader/Safety Officer(s) on the regional Urban Search
and Rescue Team where he has been an instructor in all aspects. He is
also a member of the Hazardous Materials Regional Response Team where he
Technical Rescue Advisor positions. Lee has been a student and
instructor for a diverse collection of topics for the fire service such
as Ropes, Confined Space, Trench, Building Collapse, Survival,
Extrication, Rapid Intervention, Air Management and Weapons of Mass
Destruction both bombs and chemical/biological. Lee has concentrated on
Safety/Survival, Rapid Intervention, Flashover/Rollover Simulator,
Container Fire Behavior Training, and Air Management. Lee was the
driving force in introducing the concept of Save Our Own (Firefighter
Survival), Rapid Intervention in South America. Over three trips to
South America Lee has instilled the concepts of Incident Command System,
Accountability and Technical Rescue disciplines. Lee will continue to
give of his own time to better his South American brothers.
